Some customer relationships take years to fully develop. You meet at a trade show, you stay in touch, you solve one problem together — and then, when the next problem comes along, you are already the first call they make. That is exactly how this project came about, and I think it is worth telling the full story, not just the technical part.
We first met this customer at the Canton Fair in Guangzhou in 2019. He came to our booth with a specific interest in a semi-automatic round bottle labeling machine — the kind of focused, purposeful visit that tells you immediately you are talking to someone who knows the industry.
He is Israeli, in his sixties, and has been running his own company for more than twenty years. The business is lean by design — five people, carefully chosen, focused on a narrow product range: labeling machines, laser machines, inkjet coders, and a handful of other compact industrial machines. His customers are manufacturers across Israel who need reliable, well-supported packaging automation equipment. He is not a volume distributor. He is the kind of operator who knows every customer personally and stands behind every machine he sells.
That first conversation in Guangzhou did not lead immediately to a standard machine sale. It led to something more useful: a custom project. His end customer needed to label syringes — different diameters, semi-automatic process, with an integrated printer. We worked through the specification together, built the machine, and delivered it. It worked. That was the foundation.
From 2019 to the present, we have continued working together on various projects. Each one has reinforced the same pattern: he brings a clearly defined application, we work through the engineering, and the machine performs. Trust accumulates that way, order by order.
When this latest project came to us, the application was immediately interesting — and immediately clear why it was a problem for manual labor.
His end customer was sealing product boxes using small, round transparent labels applied across the corner of each box — wrapping from one side face, over the edge, and onto the adjacent side face. This is a tamper-evident sealing method: the label bridges the corner so that opening the box breaks the label, providing visible evidence of tampering or unauthorized access.
The requirement was for both corners of each box to be sealed simultaneously — two labels, two corners, one pass through the machine.
Before this machine, the process was entirely manual. And manual application of small round transparent labels across a box corner is genuinely one of the more frustrating hand-labeling tasks in packaging:
Transparent labels are difficult to peel — the backing and label surface look nearly identical, and peeling a small round transparent label cleanly from its liner requires care and time
Corner application requires precise alignment — the label has to land centered on the corner edge, with equal coverage on both faces; a few millimeters of error is immediately visible
Round labels on corners want to wrinkle — applying a flat circular label across a 90-degree edge without creasing or bubbling requires a controlled, consistent pressing motion that is hard to replicate by hand at volume
Repetition compounds all of these problems — what is manageable for ten boxes becomes exhausting and error-prone for hundreds
The result was slow throughput, inconsistent label placement, and a finished product that did not always look the way a sealed, branded box should look.
When our customer brought this project to us, the first thing we did — as we do with every custom application — was work through the complete specification before touching a design.

Only once every parameter was confirmed and agreed did our engineering team begin the machine design. This is not bureaucracy — it is the only way to avoid building the wrong machine. A custom labeling machine that does not match the actual product is expensive to fix after the fact. Getting the specification right at the start is the cheapest part of the project.

The pressing mechanism ensures the label conforms cleanly to the 90-degree corner geometry without wrinkling or lifting. The box exits labeled, sealed, and ready for the next stage.
The entire cycle runs automatically. No operator intervention is required between feed and exit.

Once the machine was installed and running, the difference from the previous manual process was immediate across every metric that mattered:
Speed — The machine applies two corner labels per box per cycle, continuously, at a rate that no manual process can approach. Throughput increased significantly compared to hand labeling.
Accuracy — Every label lands centered on the corner edge, with consistent coverage on both faces. The variation that is unavoidable in hand application — slightly left, slightly right, slightly rotated — does not exist in the automated process.
Appearance — Small round transparent labels applied by machine across a corner edge are clean and flat. No wrinkles, no bubbles, no partially lifted edges. For a tamper-evident seal, appearance is not cosmetic — a label that looks disturbed raises questions about whether the box has been opened, even if it has not.
Labor — The operator loads boxes and monitors the line. The labeling itself requires no manual involvement. For a small operation where every person's time is valuable, removing a repetitive, skill-dependent task from the daily workflow is a meaningful gain.
Our customer's feedback was straightforward: the machine solved the problem, the customer was satisfied, and the labeling quality met the standard required for a branded, tamper-evident seal.
I want to say something about the relationship side of this project, because I think it matters and it does not always get mentioned in case studies.
This customer has been working with us since 2019. In that time, we have built him a semi-automatic syringe labeling machine with an integrated printer, and now a fully automatic dual-side corner seal labeling machine.
